ambivalence
Things that are making me sad this week:
1) the Olympics are over
2) i have to leave my family beach vacation early for a lame "how to be a good teacher" short course next week
3) M2 & i broke up. so depressing.
Things that are making me happy this week:
1) it's my birthday!
2) i'm going to the beach!
3) M2 & i broke up. such a relief.

jokes & fun with the RNC
did someone register me as a Republican as a joke? (if so, well played) i have no other explanation for me receiving some survey from the Republican National Committee asking what they should focus on in the upcoming presidential election. i found the questions mostly ridiculous and occasionally offensive. i chose to answer the one asking, "Are you planning on volunteering for your local Republican office in the upcoming election?" and then wrote "VIVA Obamacare!!" across the back. i also included this picture as a special present for the intern who got to open my envelope:

update on bob costas's style
bob must have gotten a new stylist because his shirt-tie combos are vastly improved since Vancouver. he's also given up the pocket squares that never matched (too dressy for summer?). next on his list of new hires should be a new make-up artist. bob, we both know you are getting old & a little more wrinkly. just embrace it.
